Thank you to everyone who made an effort to come indoors during a beautiful sunny winter’s day in Vancouver – terrible timing Mr. Weatherman! Tania Bakas was the host of the afternoon at Dream Designs in West Vancouver. Tracy Lydiatt was tuning in from Western Australia and although she couldn’t be there in person, she was sending heaps and heaps (as they say in Australia) of good vibes to the group that day!

Oprah’s Medical Guru endorses Reiki on National Television

Stumbled across this article today over some criticism of Dr. Mehmet Oz, Oprah’s medical guru. Even through the article is putting the effects of reiki down to “quackery” (fake science), it will most certainly have more people investigating into what Reiki is. Perhaps a little bad press will be good for raising the level of awareness about Reiki in the general public!

Tania, where do you live?

I live in North Vancouver and my co-writer Tracy, lives in Perth, Australia.

What’s your background?

I spent several years in advertising before connecting with the holistic field of reiki and reflexology just over five years ago.

I also have an extensive background in the hospitality industry, currently managing the family Greek restaurant in North Vancouver.

Reiki is my passion and I also run my own business offering reiki sessions and classes.

What is this book about?

Reiki Vibes — Heartwarming Stories is a collection of inspiring tales contributed by reiki practitioners from around the globe, all committed to sharing the love, light and benefits of their experiences.

What did you hope to accomplish in writing this book?

Tracy and I love practising reiki and have witnessed incredible events that have transpired because of using it as a healing tool.

We feel we are in a time of great transition on our little planet and need to contribute as much positive energy as possible.

We joined together on a mission to inspire, educate and connect people to reiki. Our main method of achieving this goal was to produce a book with inspiring stories.

Who do you suggest reads this book?

I feel this book will appeal to anybody wishing to know more about how reiki works and what it is.

It covers a wide array of healing topics, including testimonials of people going through major positive life changes, stories of physical healing as well as emotional healing with the help of reiki and tear-jerking animal healing stories.

Australian Open Tennis and Reiki

Inspired by watching the amazing athletes playing at the Australian Open Tennis Championships, I wondered if any of them used Reiki as part of their recovery efforts. Pat Cash of Melbourne (Australia), former Wimbledon Champion is a qualified Reiki healer and uses Reiki on himself. In an interview with the Metro (UK) he states the following:

Interviewer: And do you do reiki, made famous by Big Brother’s Nasty Nick?

Pat Cash: I’m a reiki master. Recently, I had a stripped throat and couldn’t swallow. I was about to go to the doctor when I remembered reiki. My throat completely healed. There are certain things you’ve got to do to tap into the power.

Interviewer: Any reiki tips to offer to Metro readers?

Pat Cash: If you’ve got a pain in your head get someone to lay their hands on your temples for 15 minutes. Just try to relax. I think you’ll find it’ll help. Some people can do it really well, some people can’t.

Healing to Haiti

Hello everyone,

Please join us in sending healing intentions to the people of Haiti and those who are traveling there to help them recover from the earthquake. If you are uncertain how to do this, then we suggest just sitting quietly in a comfortable chair and visualising the island – for example as if you are flying over it – put the island in a bubble, white light etc. and send loving and/or healing thoughts into the island/bubble/white light. It will do its job as energy follows intention.

Has anyone else seen this movie? “My Life” with Michael Keaton and Nicole Kidman.
